An Indian woman desperate to stay back in the UK faced severe backlash online for offering to work for free.

London: An Indian woman drew flak online after offering to work for free in the UK, desperately trying to stay back in the country. She claimed that her student visa was expiring in a few months and she had failed to secure a job to extend her stay. Netizens were livid with her for offering free work.

The woman had migrated to the UK as a student in 2021. Since completing the course, she has tirelessly looked for job opportunities. The Leicester-based woman sent over 300 applications but failed to find a job to extend her UK visa. In a distressed plea to recruiters on LinkedIn, the woman said, “Hire me for free for one month. If I don’t deliver, fire me on the spot, no questions asked.” The woman also offered to hustle for 12 hours 7 days a week to prove her worth to the employer. She added, “My Graduate Visa EXPIRES in 3 months … repost this to help me stay in the UK.”

In her post, the woman said that after failing to find a job she feels that her degree holds no value in the competitive job market. She concluded the post stating that post was her “final chance” to prolong her stay in the UK. The post became a topic of discussion on LinkedIn and Reddit. Netizens on all the platforms reprimanded the woman.
