DPCC to strictly monitor dip in air quality

In a bid to check dip in the air quality in the national capital, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) will strictly monitor the air quality at three key locations in the city. The DPCC will monitor the AQI at these locations for 15 days, starting a week prior to Diwali.

As per officials aware of the matter, the DPCC team will set up AQI monitoring labs at the three locations — ITI Shahdara in Vivek Vihar, Satyavati College in Ashok Vihar, and on Aurobindo Marg. The prime motive behind the  drive is to evaluate the impact of emissions from firecrackers on Delhi’s AQI.

In a crackdown on sale of illegal firecrackers, the Delhi Police arrested three people and seized over 1,300 kilograms of firecrackers from two godowns in the city. The accused were identified as Sanjay Atri, Manoj Kumar, and Vipin Kumar. The cops have lodged a case under section 288 of the BNS and 9B of Explosive Act-1884.
