New Delhi: Dabang Delhi K.C. suffered a huge blow ahead of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 11 as their star raider Siddharth Desai was ruled out of the PKL 11 due to some personal reasons. One-time PKL winner Delhi formed a blistering trio for raiding as they retained Naveen Kumar and Ashu Malik and bought Bahubali Desai for Rs. 26 lakhs to form a raiding group in season 11.
The 32-years had a decent previous couple of PKL seasons but Delhi showed faith in him and bought him into their team. Desai started his PKL journey with U Mumba and proved his worth in the league. Bahubali Desai had amassed 693 raid points in just 80 matches. He debuted in 2018 and then joined Telugu Titans from 2019 to 2022 and his last stint was with Haryana Steelers, who were the runner-up of the previous PKL edition.
Delhi will have to choose an alternate raiding option for their side as they announced that they will be without the service of well-experienced raiders. Delhi also lacked in raiding department in the previous edition.
Earlier, Delhi’s defender Himmat Antil was also ruled out of the PKL 11, Antil was retained by the Delhi franchise before the auction. Antil was ruled out due to an injury and after that Delhi named Ankit Mane as Antil’s replacement in the upcoming PKL season.
Siddharth’s replacement is yet to be announced. Delhi will take on UP Yoddhas in their season opener on October 20, Sunday in Hyderabad. Delhi has a formidable raiding group including Naveen, Ashu, Mohit, and Md. Mijanur Rahman, Himanshu, Parveen, and Manu.
After their maiden PKL glory in season 8, Delhi hadn’t qualified for playoffs for two consecutive times. They finished in fifth position in seasons 9 and 10. This time they will be aiming to qualify for playoffs and can lift the PKL trophy for one more time.
