This match was a big moment for Portugal, who had won their first three matches in the competition. They had previously beaten Croatia, Scotland, and Poland, putting them at the top of Group A1. We leave here frustrated.” Even though Portugal controlled possession, they struggled to create clear chances. Ronaldo had a few opportunities to score but couldn’t convert. Scotland had the best chance early on when Scott McTominay headed the ball too close to Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa.
