Hyderabad:
In a blow to five IAS officers serving in Telangana, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) directed Amrapali Kata, Vakati Karuna, Vani Prasad, Srijana Gummalla, Donald Rose to follow the orders of Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and report to AP Chief Secretary to join AP cadre, Tv9 telugu reported.
In its remarks, the tribunal questioned the IAS officers if they did not want to serve the people of AP.
“People are suffering from floods in AP. Don’t you want to go to such a place and serve them? DoPT has full powers over allotment of IAS officers. Does the guidelines allow for swapping despite the locality?,” the tribunal asked.
Arguing on behalf of the IAS officers, the advocate pointed out that the DoPT is not paying attention to the recommendations of the one-man committee and requested to cancel the orders of DoPT and issue interim orders to continue in the states where they are currently performing their duties.
The tribunal further said that Center has the power to take any decision to balance officials for the sake of good governance and DoPT has the authority to make allocations to neighboring states when there is excess of officers in one state, CAT said.
The IAS officials are expected to file a lunch motion petition in Telangana High Court on Wednesday.
