New Delhi: Real Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti felt his team needed to be “worried” after losing to AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League at Santiago Bernabeu. Madrid has suffered back-to-back losses at home after a 0-4 defeat against Barcelona in La Liga the weekend before. After games in the Champions League, the defending champions have lost two of their four games, with a loss to Lille in October and have secured just six points in the campaign.
Malick Thiaw had inflicted an early blow to Los Blancos in the 12th minute, but Vinicius Junior cancelled the lead in just 11 minutes. However, Alvaro Morata’s strike before the break, followed by Tijjani Reijnders’ 73rd goal, meant Madrid could never climb back into the game.
In La Liga, they are placed second to rivals Barca, trailing them by nine points. With a star-studded lineup replacing legends of the game, Ancelotti’s worries are understandable. The Madrid boss felt that the team wasn’t applying itself well enough. Ancelotti felt that the team lacked discipline and, hence, are conceding a lot more this season.

Real Madrid’s big names are yet to fire
Coming to the fixture, Milan had just one win, and their domestic performance was equally appalling, standing seventh in Serie A. However, on the occasion, the Italian club were better than Madrid. For fans, it was a hard-breaking sight, as Madrid’s performance after Vinicius Junior’s goal wasn’t impressive. On top of this, the club’s summer buy, Kylian Mbappe, has yet to show his prowess in front of the goal.
So far, he has only scored once from four Champions League games and six times in the ten La Liga games. As the team continued to struggle, Milan’s performance was at times brutal and organized, with Yunus Musah displaying a dominating performance in the midfield as they handed a 1-3 loss to the hosts.
In contrast, the Madrid midfield, which is full of big players, including Jude Bellingham, had a tough outing. Bellingham hasn’t been in the amazing touch he was in last season and was immediately substituted after the third goal as Ancelotti looked clueless watching his former team beat Madrid. The Spanish side will face Liverpool when the Champions League returns, which is at the top of the Premier League and has been scoring phenomenal goals this season.
