Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at the residence of BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy as Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi camped out at Reddy’s house along with followers, Tv9 telugu reported.
A scuffle ensued between the police and Gandhi’s followers, who tried to push the gate and enter Kaushik Reddy’s house and Gandhi was later arrested by the police.
War of words between Kaushik Reddy, A Gandhi:
Earlier in the day, war of words escalated between the two lawmakers and each of them challenged the other with abusive language.
It began when Kaushik Reddy dared Gandhi to hoist the flag of the BRS on his house by noon or face consequences. Gandhi retaliated promising that he would visit Reddy’s residence in Kondapur himself if the latter did not show up.
Expecting potential clashes, the police tightened security at Gandhi’s residence and places Kaushik Reddy under house arrest to prevent escalation.
After switching allegiance to Congress from BRS, Gandhi was recently appointed as PAC chairman. In the view of that appointment, Kaushik Reddy hit out at Gandhi and demanded his disqualification from the BRS. He also challenged him to either resign or wear bangles and saree.
The use of abrasive language raises serious questions on the discourse and declining standards of communication by political figures.
