Bengaluru District Collector has issued an order to close all schools and colleges in Bengaluru in view of heavy rain. All the companies were asked to allow their employees to work from home.

Bengaluru: The incessant rains have started affecting various parts of the country, particularly the southern states, and Karnataka is no exception. With heavy rains since early Tuesday morning in Bengaluru, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert. All schools and colleges in Bengaluru have been ordered to remain closed tomorrow due to the heavy rainfall. Companies have also been asked to allow their employees to work from home.

Bengaluru Urban District Collector Jagadeesha has issued orders as heavy rains are expected to continue for the next couple of days. According to official sources, guidelines have also been issued alongside the school closure notice.

The official circular reads, “For all other degree, postgraduation, diploma, engineering, ITIs, no holiday has been announced, a general instruction has been given to the heads of the colleges and the concerned persons to consider the following points while conducting lectures in the colleges.”

According to the guidelines, the head of each college is responsible for the safety of students commuting to and from the campus. College authorities have been instructed to ensure the safety of the vehicles used by students to reach the college.

Students and parents are advised to regularly check the official portal or social media handles of the Education Department for updates regarding the reopening of schools and colleges.

Many districts in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry have been affected by incessant rains. The Andhra Pradesh government has declared holidays for schools in the districts of Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore, and Prakasam until October 17. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has also declared a holiday for schools and colleges today in the districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu.
