Bahraich’s District Information Officer (DIO) Gulam Waris Ali have been removed from his post in view of the conflicting reports over violence in the city. Waris Ali has now been attached to the headquarters. After the transfer, the DIO was relieved of his duties in the district.

It is reported that the Bahraich police have ruled out ‘torture theory’ in Ram Gopal’s death, while autopsy report reveal some kind of ‘torture’ in the death. Violence broke out in Bahraich during durga idol immersion on October 13.

Meanwhile, the internet services have been restored in the district four days after they were restricted in view of the unrest. Police have warned rumour mongers of strict action if disturb communal harmony.
