New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted scattered rainfall across southern and northeastern parts of the country, while central, northwestern, and eastern regions will largely remain dry for the coming week. Meanwhile, northeastern states will experience scattered rain, particularly in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.
Rainfall is expected to intensify in some areas of South India and the northeastern region. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are likely to experience heavier showers between October 10 and 14, while parts of Karnataka and the Lakshadweep islands will also see significant rainfall. However, regions in the northwest, east, and central India, such as Rajasthan, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh, are not expected to receive any substantial rainfall in the next seven days.
Southern Peninsular India
In the southern part of the country, widespread light to moderate rainfall is predicted throughout the week. Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka are set to receive consistent rain.
Tamil Nadu is likely to witness isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on October 10 and again from October 12 to 14. Kerala and Mahe are also expected to see heavy downpours on October 12 and 13.
Lakshadweep will witness isolated heavy rain on October 10, while Coastal Karnataka will experience similar conditions on October 10 and 13.
Northeast India
The northeastern states are forecasted to experience scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over the next five days. Heavy showers are expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya between October 10 and 11, while Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will receive isolated heavy rain on October 10. After this period, the intensity of rainfall in these areas is likely to decrease.
West India
In western India, Konkan and Goa will see scattered to widespread light to moderate rainfall throughout the week. Isolated heavy rain is expected in Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra from October 10 to 12.
Other parts of the western region, including Gujarat and Rajasthan, are expected to remain largely dry, with only light rainfall in certain areas.
Northwest, East and Central India
For the rest of the country, including major regions in central, eastern, and northwestern India, there are no significant weather changes expected. Rainfall in these areas will be minimal or absent, leading to drier conditions in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. This dry spell is expected to last for the entire week, allowing for clear weather across much of these regions.
