Farooq Abdullah is confident of National Conference’s victory in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, promising a ‘people’s raj’ and efforts to restore statehood. He expressed disappointment over Congress’s loss in Haryana, attributing it to internal disputes.

Jammu: The counting of votes for the 90 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections began at 8 am. As the results unfold, National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah expressed confidence that his party has gained the people’s mandate after ten years.

In a statement following the vote count, Farooq Abdullah said, “The people have trusted us again after a decade. We pray to Allah that we live up to their expectations. It will no longer be a ‘police raj’ here but a ‘people’s raj.’ Our aim is to restore trust and peace between Hindus and Muslims.”

 

Farooq Abdullah said this about Jammu and Kashmir CM

Farooq also touched upon his party’s plans for the future, including efforts to free innocent people who are currently imprisoned. Abdullah promised that under their leadership, the media will have freedom and the region will work towards improving communal harmony.

Speaking on the prospects for statehood in Jammu and Kashmir, Abdullah expressed hope that INDIA alliance, a coalition of opposition parties, will join the National Conference in this effort. He said, “I am hopeful that INDIA alliance partners will fight alongside us to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.”

Farooq Abdullah further hinted at a leadership change in the state, saying, “I understand that Omar Abdullah will become the Chief Minister.”

What Farooq Abdullah said on Congress’s performance in Haryana

Commenting on Congress’s performance in the Haryana elections, Farooq Abdullah expressed disappointment. He attributed their loss to internal disagreements within the party. “I am sad that Congress has not won in Haryana. I think their defeat happened due to internal disputes,” he added.

The ongoing elections mark a significant moment for Jammu and Kashmir, with many eagerly awaiting the final results to see which party will form the new government in the region.
