Bigg Boss 18’s contestant Shilpa Shirodkar was an extremely popular 90s Bollywood actress. Why did she chose to come to Bigg Boss 18? Here is what the actress revealed.

New Delhi: Bigg Boss season 18 premiered its grand finale on October 6, 2024. With an interesting lineup including 18 contestants, Bigg Boss‘ brand new season began with a bang. While introducing the contestants, Salman Khan called up Shilpa Shirodkar, a popular 90s actress who went off the radar for quite a while. After working with Bollywood’s A-listers such as Amitabh Bachchan and Mithun Chakraborty, why did Shilpa Shirodkar decide to join Bigg Boss 18?

Well, before joining the show, in a candid conversation with India Today Digital, the actress revealed why she chose to join Colors TV’s reality show. Shilpa Shirodkar explained that she has a happy family – a 20-year-old daughter and a loving husband. So, she now wishes to work for herself and connect to the industry she knows so well.

Why did Shilpa Shirodkar join Bigg Boss 18?

As for a specific reason for joining Bigg Boss 18, Shilpa revealed that she has been looking for new work opportunities and reached out to industry professionals. However, she met with the same response – “there is no work or nothing is happening as of now”.  Despite not getting offers, Shilpa Shirodkar is dead set on picking back her acting profession. According to Shilpa, an actor needs work, and to her Bigg Boss is also a job. In the end, she aims to get offers after the show is completed.

Shilpa Shiroadkar’s attempt to make a Bollywood comeback

Shilpa further added that she grew up with industry veterans but is not in touch with anyone as of late. She recalls the early beginnings of her career and says that she was just 16 when she began acting. To Shilpa, Bollywood is her home and she wishes to return to do what she loves the most. When asked if she felt neglected by Bollywood, Shilpa immediately disagreed and explained that she has earned fame, money and love from the industry.

In addition to this, Shilpa also revealed that she is an avid Bigg Boss enjoyer and has watched every season so far. When asked if she fears some of her younger co-contestants would not recognise her, Shilpa waved the question off with a straightforward reply. She said that she would feel no shame to go up to people and introduce herself. Shilpa hopes to respect other contestants’ space and wishes they would respect her too. If she were to face disrespect, she assured the audience that she would know how to handle it.
