Mumbai News

Only vehicles involved in the event will be allowed on New English School Road, which connects Ramkrishna Paramhansa Marg and J. L. Shirsekar Marg. All other vehicles will be prohibited from using this road during the event.

Mumbai: The city police announced traffic restrictions in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) region to accommodate the surge in traffic in view of the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new Bombay High Court building on September 23. The event will be held at the Government Colony Ground in Kherwadi, Bandra (East). Judges of the Supreme Court, the Bombay High Court and other distinguished guests are expected to grace the event.

To ensure the smooth running of the event and minimise the disruptions to the public, the police have temporarily restricted traffic from 2 pm to 9 pm on September 23. Chief Justice of India, Justice DY Chandrachud, will lay the foundation stone for the proposed complex, with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar also attending the ceremony.

No entry on BKC Road: Check alternative routes

Only vehicles involved in the event will be allowed on New English School Road, which connects Ramkrishna Paramhansa Marg and JL Shirsekar Marg. All other vehicles will be prohibited from using this road during the event. Commuters can rather go from Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Mandir road to avoid any inconvenience. To avoid delays, drivers are encouraged by the traffic police to plan their routes in advance and follow the traffic restrictions during the ceremony.

In addition to this, Mumbai Police has issued a separate advisory which states that it has prohibited vehicles from stopping on the Mumbai Coastal Road for photo or video sessions. The southbound lanes will now be open 24 hours a day, except for a brief closure from midnight to morning 7 AM. Certain routes from Bindu Madhav Thackeray Chowk, Rajani Patel Chowk, and Amarsons Udyan to Marine Drive, as well as the northern route to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, will continue to be accessible.
