Hyderabad: Choreographer Sheikh Jani Basha, also known as Jani Master, has been granted interim bail from October 6 to 10 for receiving the National award for Best Choreographer, Tv9 telugu reported.
Jani Basha booked under POCSO Act:
Jani master was arrested from Goa in a sexual harassment case on September 19 and was booked under various sections of the BNS and POCSO Act for rape, criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt.
He was booked under POCSO after a 21-year-old woman filed a complaint against the choreographer for sexual harassment, rape and multiple threats on several occasions.
In her complaint, the woman said that he would harass her on outdoor film shoots in various cities including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai.
Telugu film chamber of commerce suspended him from his post as president of Telugu Film & TV Dance Directors Association and constituted an internal committee to probe how he recruited a minor dancer aged 16, five years ago.
In their remand report, police said that he confessed to his crime and based on the confession, the court remanded him to jail.
National Award for Best Choreographer:
The choreographer will be in the National Capital New Delhi on October 8 to receive the award for best choreographer for the Tamil movie Thiru starring Dhanush, Nitya Menon and Raashi Khanna.
