Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leaders hit out at Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy after he offered bangles and a saree at a press conference on Wednesday, to BRS MLAs who defected to the Congress.
Arikepudi Gandhi, MLA from Serilingampally who defected to the Congress party said, “Kaushik Reddy is a menace and a broker. How can he speak like that about women? Are there no women in your house, no sister, no daughter? Do not talk down to women like that.”
Congress leader B Shobha Rani, also chairperson of the Telangana State Women’s Co-operative Development Corporation, held up a shoe in her hand and warned the BRS MLA that he would be slapped with a shoe for his comments.
She stated that the women’s commission must take cognizance of the comments and stated that CM Revanth Reddy named the women’s university after freedom fighter Chakali Ailamma.
‘Turncoat MLAs are no longer men’
The outrage was sparked after Padi Kaushik Reddy held up bangles and a saree at a press conference and said that he offers it to MLAs Danam Nagender, Kadiyam Srihari, Tellam Venkat Rao, Arikepudi Gandhi, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Krishna Mohan Reddy. “I offer it to the 10 MLAs. They should wear this and roam around. You have no respectability and you no longer are men.”
BRS MLA no newbie to controversy:
Kaushik Reddy has courted controversy in the past for his misogynistic comments and was summoned by the NCW in 2023 for his comments against then governor Tamilsai Soundararajan.
