Raidurgam Police in Cyberabad have booked film choreographer Sheikh Jani Basha alias Jani Master after a 21-year-old female assistant choreographer filed a complaint against him for sexual assault, reports said.
He choreographed songs for films like ‘Stree 2’, Jailer, Thiru, Double iSmart among others. Recently, he bagged a national award for Best Choreographer for the song ‘Megham Karigenu’ from Tamil dub ‘Thiru’ starring Dhanush, Nithya Menon, Raashi Khanna.
Booked for rape, intimidation:
In the Zero First Information Report (FIR), the woman said that he had sexually harassed her several times while they were on outdoor shoots in various cities including in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai. He reportedly threatened to beat and torture her if she resisted, the report said. The zero FIR has been transferred to Narsingi police for further investigation as the complainant resides in Narsingi.
He was booked under sections 376,506, 323 of the Indian Penal Code for rape, criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt.
Past complaints and arrests:
This comes after another complaint in June which was filed by a dancer named Satish, who accused Jani Master for harassment related to film work. He was also sentenced to jail for six months in 2015 for a brawl, in which charges of assault on a woman were quashed.
