The Andhra Pradesh cabinet in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu approved the new liquor policy, which will be implemented from October 1.
The council of ministers approved to make 180 ml of liquor available at an average price of Rs 99 and make quality liquor brands available at affordable prices.
The application fee for new liquor shops is set at Rs 2 lakh and licenses will be given to new liquor shops on a lottery basis. Liquor shops are allowed to be open from 10 am to 10 pm and a 10 percent reservation will be given to the Kallu Geetha castes in the licenses of liquor shops.
Revival of volunteer system:
A lengthy discussion took place on the revival of the volunteer system as officials explained to CM Chandrababu that the time limit of volunteers has ended in August 2023. The ministers reported to the CM that Jagan Reddy fired the volunteers a year ago. CM Chandrababu Naidu asked ministers to find more information for the restoration of volunteers.
