Mega Block: Mumbai local train services to remain affected for 10 hrs starting today

Mumbai’s rail infrastructure will experience a major train block on the UP and DOWN Fast lines and the 5th line overnight from September 28 to 29, to enable the construction of a new 6th line between Goregaon and Kandivali stations.

Mumbai: In a significant development for Mumbai’s rail infrastructure, a major train block will be implemented on the UP and DOWN Fast lines, as well as the 5th line, overnight from Saturday, September 28, to Sunday, September 29. This disruption is necessary to facilitate the construction of the new 6th line between Goregaon and Kandivali stations, as per the statement by Western Railway.

According to Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the block will occur as follows:

  • UP Fast Line: 12:00 AM to 10:00 AM
  • DOWN Fast Line: 12:45 AM to 5:00 AM
  • 5th Line: 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM

Mail, Express trains to operate on the 5th line

During this period, all UP and DOWN Fast line trains will operate on the Slow lines between Borivali and Andheri. Additionally, all Mail and Express trains on the 5th line will divert to the DOWN Fast line, traveling from Andheri to Borivali.

As a result of this block, several suburban trains will be impacted, with some either canceled or short-terminated. Passengers are encouraged to check with their respective Station Masters for the latest updates and a detailed list of affected services.

Trains to remain affected during the mega block:

Several trains will see alterations to their schedules:

  • Train No. 94078: The Virar – Andheri Fast AC local, departing Virar at 10:44 PM on September 28, will be short-terminated at Borivali.
  • Train No. 94079: The Andheri – Bhayandar Fast AC Local, leaving Andheri at 11:55 PM on September 28, will short-originate from Borivali.
  • Train No. 90853: The Dadar – Borivali local, departing Dadar at 8:23 PM on September 28, will only run to Bhayandar.
  • Train No. 90979: The Churchgate – Borivali local, leaving Churchgate at 10:24 PM on September 28, will run only up to Bhayandar.
  • Train No. 90795: The Churchgate – Borivali local, departing Churchgate at 7:11 PM on September 28, will also only run up to Bhayandar.
  • Train No. 91016: The Virar – Andheri local, leaving Virar at 11:40 PM on September 28, will be short-terminated at Bhayandar.
  • Train No. 91041: The Churchgate – Borivali local, departing Churchgate at 12:16 AM on September 29, will be short-terminated at Goregaon.
  • Train No. 91049: The Churchgate – Borivali local, leaving Churchgate at 12:38 AM on September 29, will be short-terminated at Goregaon.
  • Train No. 90190: The Virar – Bandra local, departing Virar at 7:25 AM on September 29, will only run to Churchgate.
  • Train No. 90294: The Virar – Borivali local, departing Virar at 9:05 AM on September 29, will only run to Churchgate.
  • Train No. 90388: The Virar – Bandra local, departing Virar at 10:30 AM on September 29, will only run to Churchgate.
  • Train No. 92001: The Borivali – Virar local, departing Borivali at 4:42 AM on September 29, will now depart at 5:10 AM instead.
  • Train No. 90004: The Borivali – Churchgate local, departing Borivali at 3:50 AM on September 29, will depart at 4:05 AM instead.

Meanwhile, to accommodate passengers, an additional Virar – Churchgate local will depart from Virar at 4:00 AM, arriving at Churchgate at 5:37 AM on September 29.
