New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor was always loved for his innocent, boyish charm since the dawn of his career. However, his recent blockbusters such as Animal or Sanju, have pushed the actor towards more violent and mature roles. So, it is high time that Ranbir plays his first antagonist character.
In line with this career potentially solid trajectory, new reports suggest that Ranbir Kapoor has been roped in for the lead in a negative role by Yash Raj Films for Dhoom 4 or Dhoom Reloaded. Here is what we know so far.
Dhoom 4 – Ranbir Kapoor’s negative role
As per a report by Pinkvilla, Ranbir Kapoor has always been interested in Dhoom’s reboot. According to Pinkvilla’s source, Ranbir Kapoor has reportedly been confirmed to lead the franchise into a new generation. That’s right, Ranbir’s role in Dhoom 4 will be the first negative role of his career. After this, the actor is also set to play the villain in the sequel to Animal, Animal Park. Some not-so-good news for OG Dhoom fans, the reports also suggest that none of the original Dhoom cast members will be returning for the franchise reboot. The source also claims that two new-gen Bollywood actors will be cast for the cop-buddies’ role.
Adding on his already conformed projects – Love And War, Ramayana, Animal Park – Dhoom 4 is seemingly under Ranbir Kapoor’s belt. As per reports, Dhoom 4‘s filming will begin at the near-end of 2025 or early 2026, after Ranbir wraps up the shoots for Love And War and Ramayana 1 and 2.
Dhoom 4 – what we know so far
Yash Raj Films will be locking in a director for the project around mid-2025 for the pre-production process. Although Dhoom Reloaded is a huge project for YRF, the company’s reported decade plan includes upcoming titles such as War 2, Alpha, Mardani 3, Pathaan 2, and Tiger Vs Pathaan.
While fans might be upset at the fact that Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will not be reprising their beloved roles, the ‘reboot’ of the Dhoom franchise is taken quite seriously. Only the loose structure of the plot – two cops choosing a villain – remains the same.
