Will ease traffic congestion between City Centre and IT hub
The tender process for a 3.5 km road project has begun, which is estimated to cost Rs 35 crore. To extend the road towards Sarjapur Road by about four km, the body needs an additional 10.77 acres of land. Once the land is acquired, the project is expected to ease traffic congestion between the City Centre and the IT hub, Shivakumar added.
Shivakumar highlighted the project’s importance for the residents of Bengaluru, particularly those residing in the city’s eastern part. “I used to receive 8-10 emails every day regarding traffic issues in East Bengaluru, as Development Minister. In response, I personally inspected the area’s traffic situation. The road widening, with the assistance of the Defence Ministry, will greatly alleviate congestion in the region,” he said.
Additional land also to be acquired
He also informed about the efforts being made to acquire an additional two acres of land near the Military Dairy Farm in Hebbal for the tunnel work. He said that the government is ready to fulfil all the basic amenities demanded by the Defence Ministry in exchange for the land.
