Hyderabad: A bandh was observed in Shamshabad area of the city in protest of the vandalism at Hanuman temple on Monday night.

Local Hindu groups called for a complete bandh in the area with schools, colleges and businesses remaining closed in response to the bandh call.

The Hindu groups held a protest around the bus stop area and asked commercial establishments to keep their businesses closed to pressure the government to take action on repeated incidents of temple vandalism.

Local police, Armed Reserve and Cyberabad SOT are monitoring the situation.

On Tuesday, BJP and VHP leaders visited the site and condemned the incident while attributing the vandalism to ‘Islamic fanaticism’ without any evidence.

Vandalism at the temple:

The statues of a temple, including Navagrahas, were vandalized by some miscreants on Monday. The miscreants reportedly opened the gates of the temple and damaged the idol with stones.

Cyberabad police arrested a Hindu man in his 50s, who hails from Uttar Pradesh.
