New Delhi: The schedule for the 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy is likely to be announced next week during a special visit by the International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation. According to a report in Cricket Pakistan, the ICC team is scheduled to visit Lahore from November 10 to 12 to inspect arrangements for the tournament set to be hosted in Pakistan.
During the visit, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to host a big event related to the Champions Trophy, with the schedule and other key details of the tournament likely to be announced.
According to various sources, the ICC has already shared the tournament schedule with member countries. ICC’s visit will focus on assessing preparations and logistics ahead of the mega-event. The official event, which is likely to be held on November 11, will be attended by prominent figures, including current and former cricketers.
The report also revealed the likely groups with hosts Pakistan placed in Group A alongside India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. According to the report, Group B comprises England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan.
Will India tour Pakistan for CT 2025?
India’s participation in the tournament is still not finalised with BCCI still awaiting consultations with the Indian government before confirming their participation.
India have not played in Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup following the horrific 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack. Since then, both teams have played just one bilateral series when Pakistan toured India in 2012-13. India and Pakistan only face off in ICC events currently.
According to the proposed schedule, the 2025 Champions Trophy is set to be held from February 19 to March 9, with a reserve day on March 10. The matches are scheduled in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with Lahore hosting seven matches, including the final.
Meanwhile, Karachi’s National Stadium will host the tournament opener and one semi-final, while Rawalpindi will host five matches, including the other semi-final. The semi-finals are scheduled for March 5 and 6 while the final taking place in Lahore on March 9.
