Bhojpuri actress Akshara Singh marked her first Chhath Puja by performing traditional rituals and sharing her experience on social media. While fans praised her devotion, some critics questioned her participation in the festival, leading to a lively discussion. Akshara’s strong response to the trolls is making waves online.

New Delhi: Bhojpuri popular actress Akshara Singh is observing her first ritual fast for Chhath 2025 and has been actively sharing glimpses from her first Chhath rituals. While her fans are wishing her on the auspicious festival and applauding her for observing the fast, a section of social media users trolled her.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she shared a set of photos performing Chhath puja rituals and expressed in Hindi, “I had only seen and heard about this great festival of Chhath Maiya until now. Today, as I am performing this festival myself as a devotee and learning its small rituals, I am feeling a mix of fear, joy, excitement, and many emotions, and my heart is saying, ‘Hail Chhathi Maiya!”

Why is Akshara Singh being trolled for Chhath Puja pics?

On X and Facebook, she has been sharing pictures from her Chhath Puja preparations. She can be seen washing and drying wheat to make prasad (offering to god), taking a dip in the holy river and celebrating this Chhath.

However, she was trolled by a user on X, who wrote, “In our tradition, unmarried girls do not perform the Chhath fast.” However, Akshara clapped back at the user and wrote in the comment section, “Yeh kaha likha hai ? Apni apni Shraddha ki baat hai Ishwar ko manne ke liye kunwara aur shaadi shuda maayne nahi rakhta (Where is it written? It is all about the faith so married or unmarried doesn’t matter).” On the other hand, some even called it a “publicity stunt”.

In another post, Akshara also questioned why men only carry the daura (basket) to the riverbank for Chhath and further questioned women’s role in the festival. She further expressed that she has often wondered why a woman who performs each ritual and observes a 3-day long fast cannot carry daura to the riverbank.

How other Bhojpuri stars are celebrating Chhath 2024?

Several Bhojpuri stars are celebrating Chhath this year. Bhojpuri superstar Pawan Singh wished fans on Instagram marking the beginning of the festival with Nahay-Khay. He also released a special Chhath song titled ‘Chhathiye Swarg Lagela’, a song dedicated to the Sun god.

Popular star Dinesh Lal Yadav aka Nirahua is celebrating the festival with his family members. Rani Chatterjee also shared a reel for her fans on Chhath 2024. On the other hand, Khesari Lal Yadav shared pictures from the Nahay-Khay ritual and wished fans on the auspicious occasion.
