Yamuna pollution concerns devotees
Ahead of the festival, the rising levels of pollution in Yamuna water has raised health concern among the people. A large amount of froth is visible in many parts of the river. As per a report by ANI, a resident said, “After looking at the level of pollution we will have to think upon whether is it even possible to perform Chhath Pooja rituals here. All governments focus only on their votebank and not the actual issues due to which people have to face all these. Chhath Pooja is an important festival and how will people celebrate in these conditions?”As per some reports, the Delhi Jal Board has been trying to remove froth from the water by spraying chemicals into the Yamuna water since last week.
