New Delhi: If Punjabi films are your jam, then you must know about this OTT platform. Chaupal is a relatively new name in the streaming platform business when compared to the streaming giants. It is a regional OTT platform featuring Punjabi films and TV shows primarily. Chaupal recently managed to get the rights for Superstar Diljit Dosanjh’s latest Punjabi rom-com, Jatt and Juliet 3 dropping on September 19 on the platform.

As Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa continue to feature in their iconic roles, this time around we follow their adventures in the city of London where they are on the hunt for a fraudulent woman. Directed by Jagdeep Sidhu, the cast also includes Jasmin Bajwa, Rana Ranbir, B N Sharma and Jaswinder Bhalla among others. One-upping its predecessor’s success, this film became the second-highest-grossing Punjabi film of all time.

2. Carry On Jatta 3 (2023)

The third instalment of the Carry On Jatta series, this family entertainer film stars the Angreji Beat singer Gippy Grewal along with the social media sensation Sonam Bajwa in the lead roles. The story follows the unlikely love story of Jass (Gippy) and Meet (Sonam) as they try to convince their families of their approval. Featuring an ensemble cast with names such as Kavita Kaushik, Binnu Dhillon, Jaswinder Bhalla, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, and B N Sharma, it became the third highest-grossing Punjabi-language film to date.

3. Chal Jindiye (2023)

This emotional drama film depicts the subtle nuances and intricacies of living abroad, unravelling a different side of migration in the community. This film features an ensemble cast of popular Punjabi actors like Jass Bajwa, Neeru Bajwa, Kulwinder Billa, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Rupinder Rupi, Aditi Sharma and Rup Khatkar. Written by Jagdeep Warring and directed by Uday Pratap Singh, this film discusses various topics such as identity, culture, relationships and the yearning for the homeland.

4. Fer Mamlaa Gadbad Hai (2023)

Directed by Sagar Kumar Sharmaa, this romantic comedy film stars the famous Punjabi singer Ninja along with Prreit Kamal in lead roles. The story follows Jagga (Ninja), an aspiring actor who is in a hurry to rise to fame to impress and marry his love interest. However, the whole scheme backfires on him as he gets stuck in an unexpected love triangle, which further complicates things for him. The cast also includes B N Sharma, Baninder Bunny, Bhumika Singh and Jaswinder Bhalla.

5. Paani Ch Madhaani (2021)

Set in the 80s around a struggling Punjabi music artist Gulli (Gippy Grewal) and his group that travels to London to showcase their talent. The group is known to rely on shortcuts for success, however, things take a turn for the worse. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the also stars Neeru Bajwa, Karamjit Anmol and Gurpreet Ghuggi among others.

6. Kali Jotta (2023)

Starring Satinder Sartaj, Wamiqa Gabbi and Neeru Bajwa, Kali Jotta is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora. It is a drama film that discusses social issues based on the life and struggles of the character Raabia (Neeru). It is also a touching love story that transcends both time and age. Neeru Bajwa’s performance got praise from many critics.

7. Jatt and Juliet 2 (2013)

A romantic comedy, Jatt and Juliet 2 is the successor to Jatt and Juliet (2012). It stars Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh and the famous Punjabi actress Neeru Bajwa. This film was directed by Anurag Singh, known for his 2019 film Kesari. The film follows the adventure of a Punjab police constable Fateh Singh (Diljit) as he flies to Canada on a task assigned to him by his seniors.

8. Qismat (2018)

Qismat is a romantic drama film about a man who falls for a woman despite his marriage being fixed to another woman. Written and directed by Jagdeep Sidhu, the film stars the famous Punjabi singer Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta in lead roles along with the famed Punjabi actor Guggu Gill and Tania in supporting roles.
