On the occasion of the 92nd Indian Airforce (IAF) Day celebration lakhs of spectators had gathered at Marina Beach to enjoy the air show.
Due to the intense heat and the huge crowd, many spectators were seen hiding from the sun with umbrellas. Initial reports suggest that the deceased have been identified as, John, Srinivasan, Karthikeyan and Dinesh Kuma.
With the sun beating down relentlessly, thousands of people were left suffocating in the packed beach.
