India News

About 13 CM and 16 Deputy CM’s of the BJP-ruled states are scheduled to attend the meet today. The meeting will also be attended by CMs of the NDA-ruled states like Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Sikkim and Meghalaya.

New Delhi: All Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will attend a conclave in Chandigarh on Thursday. The conclave will begin shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of Haryana new Chief Minister Nayab Saini today at Panchkula.

In an apparent show of strength after a thumping win in Haryana Assembly elections and upcoming polls in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, about 13 CM and 16 Deputy CM’s of the BJP-ruled states are scheduled to attend the meet today.

Modi, Nadda, Shah to attend NDA CMs meet in Chandigarh today

Several media reports say that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and JP Nadda, who is also the BJP president, will attend the meeting in what is seen as the ruling alliance’s renewed attack on opposition parties.

All the participants will deliberate on development issues, the Constitution’s ‘amrit mahotsav’, and the 50th anniversary year of the “attempt to murder” democracy, a reference to Emergency, said a PTI report.

“Deliberations in this meeting will have a structured agenda covering national development issues. It will also discuss subjects like observance of Samvidhan Ka Amrut Mahotsav and the Year of 50th anniversary of attempt to murder democracy,” the BJP said in a statement.

NDA’s show of strength ahead of Maharashtra, Jharkhand Assembly polls

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio will also lead discussions. Apart from Naidu and Rio, CMs of Maharashtra, Bihar, Sikkim and Meghalaya CM will also be present in the first conclave of NDA CMs of this kind in the last many years.

With the BJP and its allies set to take on opposition alliance in next month’s Maharashtra and Jharkhand polls, the ruling bloc is looking to draw momentum from its Haryana win to charge at its rivals.

Nayab Saini to take oath as Haryana CM for second time

Before the CMs meet, all eyes will on the swearing-in of Nayab Saini as Haryana CM for the second time in a row. Saini will take oath in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Saini, an OBC face, replaced Manohar Lal Khattar as the chief minister of Haryana in March. Saini also served as a minister in the first term of the Khattar-led government in Haryana (2014-2019) and contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Kurukshetra which he won.
